Paula Patton in Lee Daniel’s Film ‘Push’

Actress Paula Patton will be in the upcoming 2008 independent film Push, alongside actress-comedienne Mo’Nique, rock star Lenny Kravtiz (his first movie debut) and rising actress Gabourey “Gabbie” Sidibe–the movie is an adaptation of a novel written by author Sapphire. Kravitz will be playing a nurse who helps an overweight, illiterate teenager in the Harlem area of New York. Patton plays the teacher/mentor who helps the girl seek a better path in her life as Mo’Nique plays the girl’s mother. Patton also in the movie, Swing Vote which is currently in production.
Push is directed by Lee Daniel , who produced the movies, Monster’s Ball and the Woodsman. “Push is “as important to me as ‘Roots,’ and I’m honored that Sapphire entrusted me with her book,” said Daniels.
Daniels recently finished the production of the film Tennessee, starring Mariah Carey .
